The Nigerian movie industry may never be the same after the release of ‘SistaSista’, a movie from the United Kingdom based movie makers, Toyin Moore and Labake. These two captivating and industrious leaders, asserted when speaking of the movie. ‘When doing love stories, we tend to tilt forward the Romeo and Juliet pathology; but we realized that and we wanted the eternal story of love without sounding cliché. So, we decided to play on the love that exist between blood brothers and sisters, because we are speaking about how money can tear us apart and the foolishness of infatuation that makes us feel we are in love”, Moore submitted.
The movie that was shot in London and Lagos with state of the art equipment and parades the likes of Mofe Duncan, Labake Labake, Toyin Moore, Jide Kosoko, Belinda Efah as well as other veterans; it has already been accepted in foreign lands by winning multiple awards at ‘African Voice’, British number one platform that celebrates black talents in arts.
Bigger prove of her dexterity and deep understanding of showbiz came when Moore, was crowned as the best actor at ZAFA awards 2018. She had this to say, “it is God all the way; you cannot hide stars or even a lantern. We shine in God, and please, let’s gather and watch ‘sistasista’ come January.
On how they hope to break the box office in Nigeria, Moore and her co-producer said, ‘these faces have been seen in movies over and over again; but we are bringing a love story from a different angle”. According to Labake, “we are not talking boyfriend or girlfriend, but sister’s love or blood love, betrayal and the rest of intrigues about relationships”.
The co-producer, popularly called TY by her fans categorically stated that, “this is not your regular love story, it is what will engross you. Anyway, we are promising fun and excitement on this movie, more so we brought ageless practitioners like Jide Kosoko, Enyinna Nwigwe and blended them with the energy of the new generation of the likes of Duncan, Belinda and the rest”.
Moore assured while concluding that “why should movie goers buy their tickets in cinemas across Nigeria? We have the elements of surprise, the miracle of love, we made the love of old come alive from Romeo and Juliet but with a twist, fun-filled with the right technical inputs. Sistasista is magic on cinemas that all movie lovers will want to see again”.
